In the Circus

Trring……Trring……….

The school bell rings.Eight yr-old Ravi runs very fast & reaches the school gate. Two minutes later, the gate is closed.Ravi stands outside the closed gate & watches the students going into their classrooms .He sighs heavily & walks to the nearby teashop where he works as a cleaner for a meager Rs.300 p.m. & begins to wash & clean used glasses.

Ravi’s mother is dead & his father,a drunkard, always beats him up & takes away his hard-earned money which he wishes to save & join in school.Once,a circus comes to his city.He listens to school children talking about clowns, various feats performed etc. & longs to see it.One evening after returning from work,he goes to the circus place & tries to take a glimpse of what’s going inside through the big curtains.

Few minutes past…a heavy hand lands on his shoulders & he looks up…It’s the circus master.Seeing his torn dress & untidy face, the circus master asks him if he would like to work in circus & offers him to pay Rs.1000 p.m.Ravi is excited. He can save lot of money & go to school…wear uniform… make friends… study very hard… become a big & great man one day.His dream is going to be fulfilled. He readily agrees.

Working in circus was not so easy.Lot of work to do…brooming & moping the big floors, washing utensils & clothes, massaging the circus master’s body & many more things to do.He even cannot go home…got very less food to eat.He was very tired & exhausted all times but his dream kept him going.Only one relief was that he had made friends with a girl of his same age named Diya who used to perform feats in the circus. She used to teach him few tricks & feats.

Oneday Diya happily comes to him & says that the next day she is leaving to Mumbai with a man who is circus master’s friend & that there she can learn to dance & also can go to school. Both the friends jump with joy & dance merrily.Ravi wishes his dream too to come true soon.Diya bids him farewell the next day & leaves with the man unknowingly that she has been sold into trafficking. Now Ravi feels all alone. Few days passed…Ravi was cleaning the floor. He sees the tall rope ladder & thinks of doing a feat which Diya often did.Looking to his sides & confirming that none is around,he quickly climbs the ladder & tries to imitate the feat…… Thud…..Ravi misplaces his leg & crashes to ground.Blood flows beneath his head…He is surrounded by people. He looks at the high ceiling of the circus & sees his dream disappearing.

P.S. Friends,Yesterday(18th Apr,2011)Supreme Court banned the employment of children in circuses based on a petition filed by the“Bachpan Bachao Andolan”& directed the Union Govt. to take immediate steps to rescue all the children engaged in circuses. It said that mostly children are sold to circus owners either by agents or relatives or by parents getting lured of promises like high salaries & luxurious life. But in reality, the children are subjected to very harsh treatment depriving them of even the basic needs like food & water, forcefully detained with no access to their family, some instances of sexual abuse on daily basis,as well as physical & emotional abuse. Most of them are later put into child trafficking.Next time if you got to circus don’t cheer happily & clap If u see a child performing. Remember that their basic fundamental right of ‘right to education’ under Art.21A & their freedom is being violated.Call a nearby police station & help that boy or girl out of that place.

India's disappearing Girls

"BETTER 500 NOW THAN 50000 LATER"
Can u guess what this caption is about? It's an add suggesting to prospective parents that spending Rs.500 now on a test to confirm the foetus was better than spending many times more for a dowry later. These kinds of adds were very common those days when there was no legislation in place banning abortions of female foetus. Thanks to the efforts of group of activists whose campaign against the use of medical technology for sex detection & selection which culminated in making the law banning these tests.
BUT HAS THAT REALLY PREVENTED THE FEMALE FOETICIDE???
Better u check this....
I was shocked to read this in today's morning paper.
Though the sex ratio has gradually crept up from933 women to 1000 men in 2001 to 940 women to 1000 men in 2011,the preliminary figures released by Census office for 2011 shows some shocking facts...In the age group of 0-6,the no. of girls to every 1000 boys is just 914,even lower than the 927 of 2001 census!!!Why has this happened???
India!!! Atleast Wake Up now!!!
Save our girl child. Are u not seeing the ill effects of increasing gap between male to female sex ratio!?Just count how many of our male cousins are still bachelors unable to find a suitable girl? This is just one small example.

Who should we choose-God or Mother?

Dear folks,

This morning, when i was having my cup of hot coffee standing at my bedroom's balcony,i happened to see a young mother nursing her months-old baby.
The care with which she was holding her cute little baby...the love & affection she is showing...
I could feel the happiness she was experiencing.........

If i ask you a very simple question- Who is more great, God or Mother? What would your answer be? It's not that simple as it seems to be. Isn't it!

As a little child when i was giving lot of trouble to my mother, my grandma took to me into her arms & told me that i have to listen to what my ma says because god will get angry if i don't listen to her & don't give me chocolates. For fear of loosing chocos, i began to listen to my mom.

When i was in school, i had an elocution competition on the topic 'Mom & Me'.My father helped me in preparation. He told me 'god created mother as he cannot be present at every place'.I liked the sentence & used it.I never thought seriously about it.I just wanted to win the event & i won.

If u ask me now,I would definitely say
'Mother is very great...great than even the god who created her'.
I would add a little bit to what my father said on that day....

God created mother not just because he cannot be present everywhere.
God created mother because even he cannot do what all a mother can do for her child.
Friends,
just go back into your memory lane & find for yourself.
Your mother...she just brushed all priorities of her life aside only to look after u, to care for u.It's not enough if we just feel the need of wishing our mother only on mother's day.

We should think of how we can make our mother feel happy every other day.

The hands are searching in vaccum

Friends,
In this competitive world, we are moving very fast & working day & night to make a place for
our self. We are successful position-wise & money-wise.
BUT...
How far are we successful as son or a daughter to our parents? Is only providing them comforts of life is all the responsibility we have?Don't you think we have to give them what they want 'most' at this time of their life...Little time from us....just to wish them,to talk to them.
This is for all we guys & gals out there who are very very busy with their own world....

Take time....to hold those hands
The same old hands, recognise
those hands that put all their work aside
to care for you when you were a kid, to feed your tiny mouth,
to make you walk on your feet,

what not have those hands done for you?
they punished you when you erred,
they patted on your shoulder when you won,
they holded your hands when you were depressed,
they nursed you when you were ill,
wiped your tears when you cried,
spent every hard earned penny on you,
What not have those hands done for you?

Remember.....
as a new born you always searched in vacuum with your tiny little fingers....
You found....
you found the warmth of a caring hand
you could rest peacefully in those strong hands

Remember......
it's only you who left those hands as soon as you grew.....

Now...
Those strong hands have become old working & working only for you...
they are now searching in vacuum.....
for a hand to hold them....
they are very fragile
trembling with no support
'Hand stick!!!???'....god save you from hell...

My friend, It's high time for you to decide......
Whether to ignore or hold the hand...
Leave them for their fate or
Make them feel the same warmth you experienced as a child.

BALL IS IN YOUR COURT.
